Dog lover, clothing designer, oil painting artist, competitive swimmer, High school graduate, author, flawless seamstress and upholsterer, skilled knitter, soprano singer, expert baker-vereniky-pita pie maker, scrabble and bingo champion, insurance annuities specialist, event photographer, league bowler, landscape gardener, enthusiastic dancer…but most importantly, a Daughter, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt, Wife, God-mother, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grand and Great-Grandmother, and loyal Friend to many.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Pashkoff, (nee Dantchich) who passed away peacefully on October 11, 2026.
Anna was a curious depression era child of successful and influential immigrant parents, Anna and Gregory. Before the age of 12 her artistic ability abounded with artistic skills beyond her years, also shared by her beloved brother Dema (Demetri) that they acquired through phenomenal genealogy inheritance.
As an early contributing family of our family Russian orthodox church, Christ the Saviour in downtown Toronto, Anna was an enthusiastic member of the revered established church choir during her teen years. She was a skilled distance swimmer during all her young life, joined her high school swim team, earning awards in team competitions as well as individual achievement. She was also an excellent student, not only as an artist but also achieving high honours obtaining 1 of 2 positions held by women in her graduating year of grade 13 from Danforth Technical Institute of Toronto.
Anne was an enthusiastic and loyal friend, having much fun in her mid-teens with her best friends, but her courtship with Paul Pashkoff, would sweep her off her feet at 18 years of age, and they would share a 40 year marriage of exciting adventures in travel, fishing, cottaging & boating, cooking for their beloved family on Sundays. They are survived by their three children and their spouses, six grandchildren and their families including six great-grandchildren.
In addition to establishing a successful 35 year career as an insurance annuities specialist, she shared both Russian and Greek cultural traditions through baking, cooking, the church and also literature to her children and grandchildren throughout their lives, instilling strong roots stemming from her immigrant parents and her in-laws since their arrival in Toronto in the late 1910’s.
Our mother spent the last 6 years of her life at the McCowan Retirement Residence, where she enjoyed wonderful times and friendships with the amazing staff and residents throughout the years. She also greatly enjoyed the weekly bingo, scrabble and was an active representative for online Jeopardy matches with other retirement homes.
Our mother’s enthusiasm for fun, love and life always shone through all her relationships throughout the decades. Revered by her colleagues, managers, and embraced by her friends and neighbours, her vast legacy will live on in everyone she loved and cared for, especially within her family.
A Private service will be held for Anna Pashkoff.
