Zorislav Basic

July 6, 1949 - January 27, 2019

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Zoran “Nona” Basic.
He passed away on January 27, 2019 in Toronto, at home, in loving care of his wife, Gordana.

He was born in Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina to Jefimija and Vasilije Basic, where later he worked as a teacher and soccer coach. His passion for soccer, his outgoing personality and kindness made him a favourite amongst students and players.

He moved to Canada in 1996, where he dedicated his life to ensuring his family was happy and well cared for.

A fantastic, kind and loving grandfather that was taken too early, he will be deeply missed, however, he will live on through our memories and stories.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Gordana, his children, Dejan and his wife Ivana and Sonja and her husband Ben, his grandchildren, Hayden Vasilije and Sasha, his brother Milenko and his many friends and relatives in Canada, Bosnia, Serbia and all over the world.

My deepest condolences. I had known Zoran almost my entire life, and he was always so full of joy. His love for Gordana was always apparent, he was the definition of a doting husband. The way he would look at Sonja and Dejan with such pride as the adults they became. And most of all, the way his eyes absolutely lit up around his grandchildren. I will never forget the moment he met his first grandchild, I have never seen anyone so excited to become a grandparent, he was made to be a grandpa. I will miss his warm greetings, his smile, the way he would shake his fingers and tsk with a mischievous look on his face, and most of all the love he surrounded all his friends and family with. He will be deeply missed.
