In memory of

Zivojin Milovanovic

January 4, 1941 -  April 6, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Živojin Milovanovic (Живојин Миловановић, Живица Вањеш).

(B. January 4, 1941 in Mokrin, Serbia – D. April 6, 2024 in Toronto, Canada).

He passed away at home in his 83rd year after multiple health battles. He leaves behind his loving wife Sofija of 57 years, son Srdjan (Serge), daughter Milena Gandzi and grandchildren Marina and Filip.

A more loving and greater husband, father, grandfather, patriarch and family man was hard to find.

He is predeceased by his mother Marija (née Nedeljkov), father Čedomir and brother Slavko.

He leaves behind numerous family members, his aunt Nadežda Lalin, brother Laza (Martha) Milovanovic. Nephew Peter (Shanna) Milovanovic, cousins Ljiljana (Aleksandar) Gavanski, Igor (Martha) Lalin and their families. Uncle (Stric, Uja, Teća), Kum and friend to many around the world.

He was born in Mokrin, a town in Banat in the province of Vojvodina in present day Serbia (Србија). He never forgot his roots, as evidenced by his generosity towards his churches, contributions to sports teams and donations to his community. Mokrin was near and dear to his heart, and he always looked forward to the Easter “Tucijada,” a festival that has famous origins in his hometown. Avid soccer (Partizan) and handball fan, and barbeque master sharing with friends and family. He was former president of the “COKO” Serbian hunter’s and angler’s society in Toronto.

Proud Srbin (Поносан Србин) he was also an active member/volunteer, while his health allowed, in his churches, All Serbian Saints-Serbian Orthodox Church (Mississauga), St Archangel Michael (Delaware), organizations such as SCA Oplenac (Mississauga) and Serbian Brothers Help (Српска Братска Помоћ) all of which he took great pride and love in.

For those who wish to send a donation in lieu of flowers, his organization of choice is Serbian Brothers Help of Canada.
