Passed away peacefully into the arms of God at the age of 63, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, Ontario. Survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Doug, Loving mother of Zara (Shaun Adams), devoted Grandma and now Guardian Angel to Sienna Grace. Loving sister of Judy Cull (Mel), Eric Christopher (Jeannette), Paula Waque (Jim), Marg Companion (Tom), Mary Stanford (predeceased)(Gary), Donna Cormier (Joe), Mitzie Bone (Chris), Jo Bousfield (Rob), Michelle Trupp (Domenic Troiani). Dear sister-in-law of Bob Armstrong (Pat - predeceased), Margie Paulitzki (Roy) (both predeceased), Marlene Schwehr (Len), Jim Lobsinger (Sharon), John Lobsinger (Iona - predeceased),& Linda DโAmour (Paul). Predeceased by her parents, Phonse Christopher and Zita Christopher Lundrigan. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Zita was born December 4, 1959 in Corner Brook Newfoundland to Phonse and Zita Christopher. She was the 9th of 10 children. She moved to the big city of Toronto where she worked with Bell Canada and AMEX before beginning her career with Canada Border Service Agency where she was employed for over 30 years and from which she retired in 2019. She was passionate about her job and developed many lifelong friendships throughout her career. Zita enjoyed travelling to many places and truly loved her trips down home to Newfoundland. In 2021, Zita became a grandmother to Sienna Grace. This role was made for her. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. Zita had a very generous spirit. She put everyone before herself. You were lucky if you had Zita as a friend. Zita had a zest for life and she will be missed tremendously by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11:00 am at Holy Redeemer Church, 796 Eyer Drive, Pickering, ON, L1W 3C2. A private family burial of ashes will take place at Duffin Meadows Cemetery immediately following the service. Family and friends will then gather for a celebration of life following the burial.
