My Mum 93 died on Feb. 7, 2017 ( Tuesday ). She was a smart , tough woman never lost her temper and had a big heart.
Mum was very good with her hands, most of the clothing were hand made and was a good cook. My son Victor never forget the time he came to visit and ate # 30 dumplings ! Yes …… yummy !
Mum never raised her voice or had her hands on us but with encouragement . While she was in nursing home even had discomfort or pain she never complain.
Mum now you are in peace , no more suffering and we will always love you and Dad and have both of you in our hearts .

Pauline TING (Daughter-In-Law)

Entered February 11, 2017 from Potomac, Maryland, USA

My name is Pauline Ting, and I am the wife of David, the third child of Mrs. Ting Young's 4 children. Together with my husband, we would like to thank all of our relatives and friends for their support and condolences toward the loss of our beloved mother. To the wonderful nurses and caretakers at the Mon Sheong Nursing Facility, where my mother-in-law was a resident for 13 yrs, we deeply appreciate your professional dedication and commitment to provide her a safe and comfortable environment for over a decade. And most importantly : my sisters-in-law, Alice and Ronnie, who attended tirelessly to every need and necessity throughout the years, as well as Stella, who provided support overseas. They all played the reversed role of a loving mother superbly well. We humbly thank you all.

Today we celebrate our mother's life. I admired, loved, and respected her. She was blessed to live a long life, just one month shy of 94 yrs. This gracious lady was shy, unassuming, gentle and polite. Even more : she was a sharp, capable and observant woman who was the pillar of her family. She was willing to stand loyally behind her husband and listen, but when she spoke, her insights were just as wise and respected. The one and foremost virtue that impressed me above others was her love of her family. She would endure any difficulties or sacrifice for the happiness and comfort for her family. We often heard her said, " I save one more penny so that my kids can have an extra one ! " Her generous nature was simply remarkable.

I loved to hear her stories about her young days in old China. When she and papa visited us in Washington DC every year, she always found time to tell me her family stories, the customs, expectations and practices of the old culture. The experiences were sometimes hard and sad, but the memories were always cherished.

Mom was a talented crafter and a fantastic cook. I am sure her grand kids will still remember her delicious Shanghai dumplings and pickled cabbage. She demonstrated these family favorites in all her children's homes spread in Australia, Canada and the US. And there was her beautiful knitting. She could knit a whole sweater without any visible seams as if it came out from a plastic mold. It was amazing.

With these lovely memories, I bid her farewell. I trust that it is not an ending but rather a new beginning as her legacy and example have found a new place in my heart. I will treasure them as heirlooms to pass them to my children and one day, their own. May the angels lead her soul to Heaven, and may the Almighty God grant her eternal peace and happiness.
