In memory of

Zbyszek (Ziggy) Szkop

December 26, 1959 -  July 25, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ziggy on July 25, 2020 at the age of 60. He will be forever missed by his children, Isabella (Trevor) and Kimberly (Brant), his grandchildren Odette and Edward, his sister Halina, niece Mira, his former wife Bianca, nephew David (Amanda), and predeceased by his mother Barbara and father Saturnin. Ziggy was a proud and devoted father and grandfather. He was an avid and talented fisherman, unmatched in his culinary skills and kept everyone around him laughing with his excellent sense of humor. Retired from a career in accounting, he enjoyed spending time outdoors on his boat. He will be remembered by his friends and neighbors as a happy and caring person who loved to help others.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centre. Due to social distancing rules, the service is limited to family only. Any guests wishing to attend may do so virtually through a live stream of the formal service taking place from 10am to 11am.

Ziggy’s cremated remains will be placed in the memorial garden for anyone who wishes to pay their respects in person at a later time.

Flower donations can be sent to the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre at 375 Mount Pleasant Rd Toronto Ontario M4T 2V8, or in honor of Ziggy, donations can be made to the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener/Waterloo.

Given the social distancing limitations, the family invites virtual guests to leave messages on this memorial webpage in lieu of a guest book.

“i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet)
i want no world(for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)”

We love you Ziggy Stardust, Rest In Peace

I do hope the rivers run wild with fish, with the opportunity to enjoy your favourite way to relax. I hope the sun shines brilliantly, as that also brought you joy and the sound of a good rocking bass being played with a drink to cheer with is close at hand.
Rest, Peacefully till your family can see you again.
Melanie
