In memory of

Zbigniew Konrad Wilski

February 1, 1924 -  November 28, 2023

Zbigniew Konrad Wilski was born in the town of Wierzchnie Poland on February 1, 1924.

In 1939 the Russians invaded this area of Poland and his family was relocated to Siberia. When the Russians became allies Zbigniew left and joined the Polish army under British command. The war took him through parts of Africa, Palestine, Egypt and up through Italy where he fought to recapture Monte Cassino.

After the war, he made his way to Manchester England, where he worked as a bus driver and a mover. This is where he met is wife Apolonia. In 1951 they had a son Christopher. In 1955, they immigrated to Canada, landing in Montreal and then to Toronto. Their second son, Richard, was born in 1957.

Konrad worked for Ford Oakville in the early 60’s, but he was laid off and so he took employment at Cryovac. In 1964 he was hired at the Ford Bramalea plant, where he worked until his retirement on May 1, 1989.

Konrad received a civilian police citation in 1976 when he tackled a bank robber after he flashed a gun at the teller at the TD Bank and held him till police arrived. He found out later that he broke the robbers arm.

He loved fishing, hunting and camping and was always bringing home lots of fish and rabbits.

Zbigniew lived a full life with his wonderful wife Apolonia, 2 great sons Christopher (spouse Pauline) and Richard, his grandchildren, Jonathon {spouse Annalisa}, and Lisa {spouse Jeff), and his 4 great-grandchildren Travis, Mia, James and Michael.

His wife, Apolonia, had passed away on November 11, 2021.

After a short illness, Zbigniew passed away at 9:57 PM on November 28, 2023 at William Osler hospital in Brampton.

He leaves a great legacy and many warm memories to his family, friends and acquaintances.

Never met Konrad, but I definitely see a resemblance with Richard.
He had a great long life...may he rest in peace.
