In Loving Memory of Rosa Zavaglia

Rosa Zavaglia, born in Mammola, Italy on October 27, 1941, passed away peacefully at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, ON, on October 28, 2024, the day after celebrating her 83rd birthday and a significant day that also marked the birthday of her beloved husband, Domenico Zavaglia, who predeceased her.

Rosa was the embodiment of love and kindness, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Diane Yolevski, son-in-law Jim Yolevski, and daughters-in-law Erica Yolevski and Emily Yolevski. Her legacy lives on through her adored grandsons, Alexander and Marcus Yolevski, and her precious great-grandsons, Jacob, Joshua, and Elio Yolevski.

Rosa's family also includes her beloved brother, Salvatore Zavaglia. She was predeceased by her husband, Domenico Zavaglia, her son, Marco Zavaglia, her mother, Carmela Zavaglia, her father, Giuseppe Zavaglia, and her siblings, Domenic, Vincenzo, and Angela Zavaglia.

Rosa always tried to fill her life with vibrant colours, laughter, and love. She had a special gift for nurturing her garden, where flowers blossomed just as her heart did with every cherished moment spent with family and friends. She delighted in the beauty of birds, finding joy in their song and presence, which added harmony to her life. Rosa also enjoyed showcasing her playful spirit at the casino, where she embraced her wild side with joy and laughter.

Her cooking was not just remarkable but also healing and therapeutic, which brought everyone together around the table, filling hearts with warmth. Rosa found immense joy in family gatherings and treasured the laughter shared with loved ones as well as her grandsons and great-grandsons, creating lasting memories that will forever be held dear.

Rosa believed in the power of love and the importance of following one’s heart. She never judged or spoke ill of others, embodying a spirit of grace and compassion. Her gentle presence and unwavering support were a source of comfort to all who knew her.

Rest in peace, dear Rosa. Your love will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, and you will be profoundly missed.
