In memory of

Zaro Pashayan

March 11, 1933 -  January 14, 2024

Zarouhi (Zaro) Pashayan passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2024 with her daughter and son-in-law at her side. She was 90 years old.

Born in Kirkuk, Iraq to Nerses and Rosa DerNersesian, Zarouhi was one of ten children. At a very young age, she displayed such creativity and talent that she was given the opportunity to express and build on those talents by opening and running her own hair salon. That was no small feat for a young woman of Armenian background in that region during those times. She became a true matriarch of the family.

In the late 1960s , Zarouhi immigrated to Canada, placing her roots in Toronto; demonstrating courage, resilience and adaptability by moving to an unfamiliar country not knowing the language in order to establish a better future for herself.
It was in Toronto where she met her husband Garo Pashayan, and together they began to build a new life together with their daughter Sosy within the Armenian community. As a mother Zarouhi embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends and countless others. She lived a multifaceted and vibrant life. Her life and legacy will live on along with cherished memories that are carried on by her loved ones.

Zarouhi was predeceased by her husband Garo Pashayan. She is survived by her daughter Sosy (Kurt) Pashayan Hasbrouck, by her brothers Sako DerNersesian & Tony (Carol) Nerses, by her sisters Arpi (Balendra) Nagesvaran & Seta(Haik) Menasian as well as by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her family deeply appreciates your heartfelt expressions of love and support during this difficult time.
