Dearest Daphne, Michael, Dennis, Sharon, Linda and your respective families

Our thoughts and prayers are with you today through this difficult time. Today is bittersweet...grieving the loss of your Mom, but also celebrating the incredibly full life that she lived, the cherished memories and laughter shared, the life lessons she has taught you and values that she has instilled in you.

Dai-Koo-Ma was a pillar in our family and she cherished the value of family. She took Dad in after their parents died and Dad lived with Dai-Koo-Ma and Dai-Koo-Jeung for a number of years before he got married. Dai-Koo-ma was like a second Mother to Dad.

Dai-Koo-Ma loved cooking and my Mom fondly remembers the numerous family feasts and movie nights hosted at their place on the weekends. Dai-Koo-Ma welcomed my Mom with opens arms and taught her how to make many numerous Chinese dishes.

In 2009 we were fortunate enough to go to Canada on a holiday and visit the family there. Dai-Koo- generously opened up her 2 bedroom condo to all 5 of us-Mom, myself, Brandon, Trevor and Gavin. We were thoroughly spoilt and wined and dined to the max. Dai-Koo-Ma took us shopping at the Chinese market and took us for the best Prawn Wontons. We spent the evenings catching up and chatting about the mischief Uncle George and Dad got up to in their younger days, family life back in South Africa and our family camping trips. My Dai-Koo-Ma was a generous, warm-hearted and jovial person. She always had a good sense of humour.

We will miss you dearly Dai-Koo-ma, may you rest in peace.

Sending you all lots of love
Queenie, Trevor, Racine, Natalie and Brandon

In the late 1970s, we lived with the Tao family for a time in Johannesburg on Gordon Street. With already a full house, See Kau-Moh welcomed us in. Besides enjoying time with our cousins, her wonderful cooking really stood out. What a warm and gracious hostess she was. In later years in Toronto, who could resist a visit to the Tao household!
See Kau-Moh, you are missed by many.

Fond memories of Aunt Yvonne

I will always remember Aunt Yvonne as one who was always cool, calm and collected.

She was a Master Chef who turned out the most amazing dishes.

My favourite will always be her roast lamb, the absolute best of all roasts!
Whatever Aunt Yvonne made, she did it with such love, care and perfection. One always knew that if Aunt Yvonne made it, then it is a WINNER!

During one of my visits to Canada a few years ago, I remember her delicious chiffon cake she especially baked for tea. What a treat! It was definitely an “Eat Some More” cake.

These are just a few of the many, many fond memories we have of Aunt Yvonne. Her ready smile, her patience and generous spirit in so many ways will be sorely missed.

Aunt Yvonne, even though your pain has ended, your beauty remains.

To Uncle Tao and all the Tao extended family,

We are so sad to hear about our dear Aunty Yvonne and our thoughts are with you. Goo Ma was such a wonderful and kind aunty and we have fond memories of visiting the Tao household in Gordon Road - Bez valley. You welcomed us into your home and looked after us for a few weeks when our own mom and dad abandoned us to go gallivanting across Europe when we were just young boys. These values have been passed down to the Tao children who welcomed us with open arm when we visited Toronto recently allowing us to bunk out at your homes, showing us around and inviting us to a fantastic week away in Muskoka.

Bruce Lee and Charles Bronson movies always conjure up memories of Saturday night movie nights at Goo Ma's place. Thinking of Goo Ma at Gordon Road reminds us of converting the courtyard into a massive lup-cheung factory and maybe not so fond memories of Barry locking a certain cousin up in the kennels. It was the central point for family gatherings and Goo Ma was the family matriarch that in her quiet way pulled everyone together and was pivotal in keeping us such a close family.

We miss you. From Malcolm, Barry, Louise, Jo, Trinity, Jordan and Anna
