In memory of

Yvonne Patton

June 19, 1955 -  March 18, 2022

LONGER THAN…
‘Longer than there’ve been stars up in the heavens, I’ve been in love with you, I am in love with you”.
After a brief courageous battle with cancer, Yvonne passed peacefully in her home with her beloved husband Gary at her side on Friday March 18, 2022. Loving mother of Joshua (Sabrina), Cameron (Diana) and Nana to granddaughter Olivia and soon to be baby Patton, cherished daughter of Maureen Freel and predeceased by her father, Samuel Joseph (Joe) Freel, best friend to her sister Karen Dougherty and favourite Aunt to Meghan, Reid and Sheri. Yvonne’s legacy of love extends to her cherished cousin Jeannie Haggan (Dawson), Paul and Debbie Burns (Rowan & Emma), Kelly and Zach Breiter (Isla), Joanne (Jo) Thornton and Valerie Rose. Yvonne will be forever missed by her best friends Donna and Gerry, Barb and Terry and Jean Guy and Rosalind and her “Happy Place” friends in Port Elgin and extended family in Belfast N.Ireland, New Zealand, Australia and all those Yvonne touched with her compassion, generosity, hospitality, laughter and love. This was never more evident than Yvonne’s dedication to Castle Building Centres Group Ltd. Yvonne was the executive assistant to the President and now CEO Ken Jenkins where her and “partner in crime” Peggy Cuff coordinated the spectacular annual general meetings. The Patton family wishes to extend their gratitude to Yvonne’s family physician Dr. Sarah Sabry and Dr Dylan and the palliative care nursing team at Credit Valley Cancer Team. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted at Bethell Hospice and Wellspring Chinguacousy. “May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, the rain falls soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”

We are so very devestated to lose one of this world's bright lights. Yvonne was always full of joy and whit, especially if she was letting you know you were wrong. Yvonne will always be remembered with love and happiness and my heart goes out to everyone reeling from this loss. We miss you, Mah!

To know her was to love her. Yvonne was someone you would never forget. I was fortunate to have met her 34 years ago at Cashway and we continued working together at Castle up until 2 years ago. We were affectionately known as the 'Dynamic Duo' 'Kate & Dupli-Kate' and 'Thelma & Louise' as we were joined at the hip, two peas in a pod. And boy did we have fun. We called each other Partner and she was the very BEST you could ever ask for. There was no job we couldn't accomplish, we were a team and we would never let each other down.
She was my chosen sister from another mother. There will never be another Yvonne. I was so blessed to have had her in my life and I miss her so much already. Love you Partner.

From the moment I met Yvonne, she made me feel welcome, as though I had known her for years. She always had a way making everyone around her happy: her smile and laugh were contagious! She brought light everywhere she went, and was so full of life, love and kindness. I feel blessed and am so grateful to have known her, though only for a short while. Yvonne, I will never forget you and will keep you in my heart always. ❤️
