In memory of

Yvonne Delores Paul

June 30, 1940 -  November 15, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Yvonne Delores Paul, on November 15, 2021.

Yvonne, was born on June 30, 1940 in Kingston Jamaica. In 1960 Yvonne married Adolph Bancroft (Bunny) Paul, and they were blessed with 4 four children Michele, Rick, Andrea and Christine. In 1970 Yvonne and Bunny emigrated to Toronto which would become their treasured home for the family. Yvonne was a loving, devoted and dedicated wife and mother who worked tirelessly to keep her family going through thick and thin, and was always resilient after facing setbacks and personal loss.

Yvonne is predeceased by husband Bunny (Adolph), daughter Andrea Paul, and grandson Brendon Davidson. She is survived by children Michele Davidson, Adolph (Rick) Paul, and Christine Paul; grandchildren Crystal Paul, Heather Amalaha, Troy Bent, Chantel Bent, Ashley Paul, Danielle Paul, Olivia Laidman; and great grandchildren Adanna Amalaha, Arinze Amalaha, Frida Reyes and Keony Gonzalez. Yvonne’s dad died as a World War 2 hero serving in England’s Royal Air Force, so she was raised in Jamaica like an only child by her grandparents. However, Yvonne’s mom continued to build a family in England and Yvonne is also survived by siblings Joyce Chong, Sybil Chong, Franklin Chong, Monty Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Sonia Johnson, Paulette Johnson-Walker and Michael Johnson. In addition, Yvonne leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Yvonne will be remembered as a fun-loving and generous person who cared deeply for her family and friends. She loved music and took great pride in her extensive music library of vinyl LPs and 45s. The all night house parties she used to host in her younger days are legendary. Yvonne was a voracious reader, loved jigsaw puzzles, avidly played “Words With Friends”, and she never missed an episode of Young & The Restless. Yvonne was happiest when she was surrounded by her grandchildren, great grandchildren and children of other relatives and friends.

Yvonne will be greatly missed and will be forever cherished.

Visitation for Yvonne will be 10:00 am followed by funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday November 26th at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmont Road, Scarborough, M1K 1R1. Based on provincial Covid-19 provisions and capacity limitations fully vaccinated family and friends may participate in person. The funeral service will be webcast for family members and friends who wish to join remotely as we say farewell to Yvonne (the link to the webcast will be visible on this site at 10:45 am).

In lieu of flowers we kindly ask that donations be made to Diabetes Canada (www.diabetes.ca).

Vera who was one of Yvonne’s best friends in Jamaica introduced Yvonne to Bunny. It was love at first sight. The rest is history.
