Yuk-Kam Lau 刘玉琴女士

February 18, 1927 -  September 13, 2019

Lau, Sham Yuk-Kam, formerly of Hamilton, wife of the late Lau, Mon-Wai, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in her sleep on September 13, 2019. Yuk-Kam was born in Toi-Shan, China and was brought by palanquin when she married at age 17. She ran a bicycle repair shop before moving to Hong Kong and then to Canada in 1965. She worked in a peach canning factory, the family's restaurants, store and properties, and her student housing before retiring and tending to her gardens which she shared with family, neighbours and friends her bountiful winter melons and Chinese vegetables. She would be making Chinese dumplings of all kinds, and other homemade yummies for her family and friends. She is survived by her five children Rita Pik-Hang (Gene), Yuit-Ming (Lillian), Lily Hang-Hah, Hor-Ming (Shelly), and Naomi; her 7 grandchildren Bing, Simeon, April, Marcus, Stephanie, Alexander and Allison.
