Young Seock (John) Kim, 82, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully, on April 25th, 2024.

Young Seock was born in Daegu, South Korea on February 18, 1942. He earned a Degree in Agricultural Chemistry from Seoul University. After university, he lived in Cairo, Egypt for a few years then settled in Toronto, Ontario for the remainder of his life. He met his wife in Toronto, and they married and had three children. For over 40 years, he owned and operated a local neighbourhood Hardware Store on Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto’s West End. He enjoyed playing golf with his high school and university alumni friends and enjoyed playing and listening to many genres of music.

Young Seock is survived by his companion, Blanche, daughter Monica (Jeremy), and sons, John (Andrea) and James (Kayan). Survived also by grandchildren: Noah, Matthew, Owen, Isaiah, Alba, Leo and Logan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dong Cho Kim.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Sunnybrook Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Special thanks to the wonderful team of doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Walji and Dr. Lott and Nurse Yvonne at Sunnybrook Hospital.
