Yolande (Assunta) Hirdaramani
86, of Toronto, ON, passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2024. Daughter of Ridley and Rosemarie Savundranayagam, she was married to Lal Hirdaramani (deceased) for 53 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Sadhana (John) and Sheena, her four grandchildren, Aidan, Sophie, Arielle and Mateo, and her five siblings, Ranjit, Arlene, Yvonne, Bunton, and Brindley.

Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, she immigrated to Canada in 1971 and worked as a securities officer for the Bank of Montreal until her retirement. She was a true renaissance woman, an avid writer, painter, world traveller and yoga enthusiast. Yolande had a strong sense of independence, but above all placed great value on the well-being of others – family, friendships and community meant everything.

A visitation will be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd., on Thurs. Nov. 21 from 4-8pm, and a funeral mass will be held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, on Fri. Nov. 22 at 10am. Burial and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Toronto Public Library Foundation, Plan Canada’s “Because I am a Girl” project, or the Daily Bread Food Bank.
