In memory of

Yolanda Samonte

January 15, 1954 -  October 2, 2023

Yolanda "Yolly" Endaya Samonte, 69, passed away on October 2, 2023 at home in Maple, Ontario, peacefully from ALS. She was diagnosed with Bulbar Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) on December 8, 2022.

She was born January 15, 1954 in Manila, Philippines. Along with her 6 siblings: the late Wilfrido “Willy”, Emmanuel “Manny”, Belinda “Linda”, the late Joel, the late Noel and Aida were raised in a Christian home by their late parents, Remigio “Mio” and Juliana “Julie” Endaya. Their family along with aunts, uncles and cousins would regularly attend Singalong Evangelical Church in Malate, Manila. She was an active member and would join any fellowship to share the gospel. This also started her love for music and serving God in this way as a choir member and as a pianist. This love for music carried on while she moved to Canada, where she also served on the choir at First Filipino Baptist Church. Yolanda's life was marked by her unwavering love for the Lord Jesus Christ and her service to Him. She loved her family with all of her heart. She will always be known as a faithful woman that had a generous and loving spirit.

Yolanda leaves behind her devoted husband, Rolando ”Roland”, their 3 children: Paul, Ciara and Arabelle “Ara”; daughter-in-law, Kristine, sons-in-law, Duke and Jay. She will also be dearly missed by her 6 grandsons: Lukas, Levi, Lewis, Noah, Nolan and Tyson. All of which were her pride and joy.

She was a faithful, loving servant of the Lord with a heart of gold. Her smile and laughter is unmatched. Even during her ALS journey, she continually encouraged others to love the Lord with her smile and strength during these difficult times. Her generosity to her family, friends and those that cared for her were truly inspiring. Even in her last days, she waited faithfully to see and be with her family one last time before she met the Lord. We love her and miss her dearly, but we know her legacy lives in all of us.

We are absolutely stunned by the news of Yolanda's passing. We met her and Rolando while on a cruise in Hawaii a few years ago and found them both to be
wonderful people. We learned quickly that she loved her family deeply. We had
hoped to revisit Toronto and renew our friendship. This is so sad.
