It is with deep sadness to announce that our beloved Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook on March 9, 2021.

She is predeceased by her mother (Ching Gee Pon), her father (Hong Sheong David Mah), her step-mother (Lai Ching Ma), her sister (Kit Hing Mah), and her great-granddaughter (Caitlyn Mah-Gonzales).

She was born in 1925 in Toishan, Kwangtung, China. She married Dick Man Wong, and their daughter Pui Ling (Ruri) was born shortly after. After her husband returned to his restaurant business in California, Yin Hing and Pui Ling moved to Hong Kong. Subsequently, her late mother-in-law and her brother (Yau Hang) joined them.

As a doting mother, she delivered a fresh delicious lunch to young Pui Ling each day at school, and took her beloved daughter out to the movies and to eat red bean slush and wonton noodles. Many good times were spent in the company of relatives and friends.

Although she could not finish middle school because of the war, she was an avid reader of fiction and her favourite book was a translated Chinese copy of "Gone with the Wind."

After being widowed, she immigrated to Canada to live with her daughter and son-in-law Andrew in Scarborough. She helped raise her 3 grandchildren, Janice (John Gonzales), Felix (Elizabeth Jung) and Lillian (Robin Lam), and tremendously enjoyed playing with her great grandchildren - Joey, Cailee, Noelle, Rosalee, Jossie and Abby. She looked forward to weekly family dinner gatherings and celebrations, and always laughed during our singing of "Happy Birthday" to her.

She used her cooking talents to express her love for us and she welcomed every visitor to stay for dinner. She knit sweaters, hats and mittens for us. As a keen gardener, she created the most beautiful flower and vegetable gardens and loved the outdoors. She marvelled at the vast natural landscape of Canada on long driving trips.

She loved our summer family vacations all over Ontario, Quebec and New York, and our unforgettable adventures in Disney World, Florida.

She enjoyed watching her old black and white Chinese movies and Chinese opera, her favourite being "Dai Lui Fa."

Her kindness, patience, and service to others continue to inspire us to treat all people with compassion and love.
