In memory of

Yet Hong "Jimmy" Chu

August 7, 1929 -  February 18, 2021

Born in China, Xinhui is an urban district, within the city of Jiangmen in the coastal province of Guangdong. Xinhui is best known for it’s chenpi, a kind of dried Mandarin Orange Peel.

His work took him outside the province but he returned in 1958 to collect his wife and daughter and unborn child where they soon settled in Canada via the US before their first son of 4 was born.

Generally a stoic person, his 10 grandchildren will tend to lightened him up as well as 7 grandbabies.

He was largely involved with volunteering at the Lung Kung Association which is a clan organization of 4 surnames of which Chu is one. Upon settling in Canada he would help out from a monetary standpoint to build and renovate a Village Community Center back at his place of birth.

Always the dapper dresser ready to impress or just wanting to look good wherever he went. He was never one to sit still always wanting to go and explore the city with family in tow.

Food was part of his life as a Chef with a Cantonese bent from which the family benefitted. Always the Green Thumb later in life he would meticulously grow huge Melons of various varieties turning them into traditional back home soups.
His garden was his baby from melons, squashes, beans and of course all the fancy flowers and plants which elicited all sorts of happy neighbourly comments.

In his later stages of life with all his children grown with their own family, he ultimately lost his lifelong partner in 2019 which took a toll. Gradually his health declined to where his body could no longer be sustained.

As he so wanted to be beside his wife, his body ultimately gave out on the morning of the 18th of February 2021.
