In memory of

Xiaoyong Zhang 张小永女士

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Xiaoyong Zhang, born 1968, in Chengdu, China. She passed away on February 8th, 2023, in her home in Markham, Ontario, Canada. She was a beloved wife to Zheng Wu, and devoted mother to her two sons, Rick Wu and Kenny Wu. She was a loving daughter to her mother Mingci Wang, and cherished aunt to her niece Fangyuan Zhong.

Throughout her life, Xiaoyong was dedicated to education. She spent many years working for YRDSB, where she was dedicated to international language education and international student liaison. She was passionate about her work and was loved by her colleagues and students alike.

Xiaoyong was well-educated, having received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Chengdu University, and her master’s degree in education from Yasuda Women's University in Hiroshima, Japan. Her love for education was evident in everything she did, and she was a lifelong learner.

When she wasn't working or studying, Xiaoyong enjoyed many hobbies. She was an enthusiastic gardener, who enjoyed spending time in her garden surrounded by her beloved plants. She was also a seasoned traveler, who loved exploring new cultures and cuisines, and an avid swimmer, who loved taking a dip in the pool. Above all she loved nothing more than spending time with her family.

Xiaoyong will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a light in the lives of everyone she touched, and her kind and generous spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved her.

The family will receive friends at a ceremony in Xiaoyong's honour. Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centres on Tuesday, 14 Feb 2023 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM.

Rest in peace, Xiaoyong.
