KANG, WOO-SUK passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023, at the age of 82. He was a loving husband of 52 years to Chun-Ja (née Sung). He was a cherished son, brother, and beloved father of Yun-Suk and her husband, Hrvoje, Jin and her husband, Wim, and Myung-Jin and her husband, Oren. He was an immensely proud Harabogee (grandfather) to Mia. He was a proud uncle to his nephews and nieces. He is fondly remembered and forever loved by his many family and friends, who will remember his smile, quiet, caring nature, and sharp observational wit.

He graduated from Seoul National University and was a bank manager at Citi Bank in Seoul, Korea, before he moved continents and owned and managed three independent businesses in Toronto. He and his wife helped start The Heritage Language Program at the Toronto District School Board, which has now evolved into the International Languages Program and African Heritage Program, offering instruction in 49 languages and dialects.

Even in difficult times, he maintained a sunny disposition and could be counted on for an enthusiastic rendition of an Elvis song. Throughout his life, Woo-Suk put his family's needs ahead of his own.

As Mr. and Mrs. Kang required more support in their daily activities, they enjoyed participating in Arirang's Korean-language based programs for the elderly. As their care needs grew, they were attended to by the caring and dedicated staff at Cummer Lodge.
