In memory of

Winnifred Anne Weppler

January 27, 1934 -  April 9, 2022

Peacefully in her 89th year at Trillium Health Partners – Mississauga Hospital. Wyn will be forever remembered by her loving husband of almost 64 years Bruce; children Kevin Weppler and Joanne Weeks [Paul Laverty]; grandsons Christopher Weeks, Daniel and Jonathan Weppler. She was predeceased by her parents J Wilfred Turner and Maud Armstrong; sister Joan [Donald Dique] and infant brother Paul. Winnifred was born in St Catharines, ON and grew up in Toronto. The family spent many summers on Lake Simcoe at their cottage on Duclos Point. She was a graduate of East York Collegiate Institute and worked for the City of Toronto Roads Department for a number of years. She married Bruce Weppler on April 12, 1958 at St Luke’s Anglican Church in Toronto, after meeting each other at Clevelands House Resort the prior Labour Day weekend. They remained in Toronto for the next ten years, then spent the next fifteen years in Beaconsfield, QC until returning to Toronto in 1983.
Wyn was an excellent cook and took great pride in her entertaining skills and holiday meals. Her butter tarts were amazing! She was a very active curler at Humber Highlands CC, Baie d’Urfe CC and finally Weston G&CC. Following Bruce’s retirement, they conducted many driving vacations across Canada and the USA. They also travelled extensively through Europe and the Caribbean. Wyn was also a keen bridge and cribbage player. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, completing crosswords, word searches and ironing! She will be missed by a diverse group of friends from her curling career, attending church in Montreal and Toronto, and more recently from Delmanor Prince Edward, Etobicoke, ON.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd, Toronto, ON. Visitation will commence at 10:30 am. The Chapel Service will begin at 11:30 am. For those unable to attend, a Livestream of the service will be available at 10:45 am by visiting https://mountpleasantgroup.permavita.com/site/WinnifredAnneWeppler.html and clicking on the “To View a Live Stream” bar.
A Reception will follow at 12:00 pm. A private burial will commence at 12:00 pm, and then the family will return to the reception. We kindly request that due to Covid-19, masks be worn at the Visitation, Chapel Service and Reception [while not having refreshments].
The Family sends a special thanks to the staff at Trillium Health Partners – Mississauga Hospital for their care and compassion. We also wish to thank the wonderful team at Delmanor Prince Edward for their support over the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Winnifred’s honour can be made to either Trillium Health Partners Foundation, LOFT Community Services or Yonge Street Mission.

Bruce, Kevin and Joanne...
My heart and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Mom and I wanted to be at the funeral in person, but these are strange times... we are with you in spirit though. I'm writing this while watching all the amazing photos of your mom being shown on the screen at the funeral home. Such wonderful memories, and I too have so many wonderful memories of time spent with Wyn and all of you. Memories that I will forever cherish. Sending love and hugs!
Beth XO
