余 榮 品 Wing Pun Yu

June 9, 1926 -  October 28, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and sorrow that we announce the passing of Wing Pun Yu at the age of 97 years on October 28, 2023 at Michael Garron Hospital.

Born in Canton Province of China, Wing Pun immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1953. Working as a Chef for over 35 years at various locations; Walkerton, Burlington, and completing his cooking career with retirement at Toronto City Hall.

Wing Pun enjoyed practicing daily Tai Chi exercise, gardening, and attending local festivals especially the Dragon Boat races.

Wing Pun is predeceased by his first wife Poy Wah, and his second wife Han Ka. May he find comfort reuniting with their souls.

Wing Pun is survived by his four children Una, Ita, Lai-Mei and Archie, his sons-in-law KL, Timmy and Jayson, his daughter-in-law Mona, his five grandchildren Ena and husband Tony, Brian, Cindy and husband Kevin, Chris and Alysha, his great-grandchildren Damon, Gabbi, Henry and Louis.

We thank the staff at Michael Garron for the care and compassion provided to Mr. Yu. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Michael Garron Hospital (MGH Foundation).

Visitation on Saturday, November 4th at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre- 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, ON. Visitation from 1-2 pm, Service from 2-3 pm with Burial to follow.

Our deepest condolences to the Yu Family.

Uncle Ben will be remembered and loved as a kind hearted gentle man. Still have fond memories of get togethers with the Yu and Wong Families.
Uncle Ben will be missed. He lived a long and much loved life surrounded by family and friends. Rest in Peace. 🥰

Mr. Yu was a kind and gentle person. We had the privilege of dining with him on many occasions over the past 20 plus years, in Una's house and with Archie, Mona and Stella. He lived a full long life. May he rest in peace.
