William R (Bill) Quance

Bill died peacefully on January 17, 2021 in Mississauga at the age of 92.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Gair, his four children, Frank (Maggie), Karen (Shawn), Martha, Robert (Sherri), and Joan’s two children Cathy (Christian) and John (Connie). He was predeceased by his first wife, Janet Culham. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and leaves many great-grandchilden.

Bill grew up in Saskatoon, Sask, and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan. He began his teaching career in a one-room school. After attending Columbia University in New York City for an advanced degree in education, he worked as a superintendent of schools in Essex County and the Peel Board of Education. He was leading developer of curriculum and programs for special education.

He was a long-time member of the Rotary International Club of Port Credit, and a member of the United Church of Canada.

A celebration of life will be held when permissible.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or Walton United Church, Oakville.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of “Uncle Bill”. I did not see him often due to geography. But, I have fond memories of any contact we had. He was always very good to me. I am still using the mix master that he sent as a wedding gift, 42 years ago!
