In memory of

William McClenaghan

April 17, 1925 -  January 12, 2017

McClenaghan, William (Bill) passed away peacefully at Humber Heights in Etobicoke on January 12, 2017 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Beatrice (McLea) McClenaghan, loving father of John and his late wife Janice, Daniel and his partner Patricia, Vickie and her husband Michael, Beth and her husband Jan, Anne and her husband Greg, and Andy and his wife Fiona. Cherished grandfather of 14 grandchildren Lindsay, David, Will (Tatiana), Heather, Beverly, Evan, Madeline, Neal, Robbie, Justin, Hannah, Katie, Conner and Steven, whom he greatly loved and admired. He loved spending time with family particularly his grandchildren .He is also survived by his dearly loved sister Edith Swan of Exeter, Ontario and sister-in-law Margaret Stephenson of Paris, Ontario. Bill was born in the Wingham area raised on the farm, started his family while living in Waterloo for several years, and then moved the family to Brampton in 1966. He retired in 1983 after working 34 years for the Province of Ontario serving with the Department of Highways, Mines, Water Resources Commission and finally the Ministry of Environment. Bill was an avid fisherman, an unorthodox golfer, a tricky Ping Pong player, a master at Chinese Checkers, the founder of "Bill's Hockey Pool" and a very successful stock trader. All the grandchildren have eaten many tasty breakfasts accompanied by Grandpa Bill’s jovial rendition of the infamous song “Pour me Another Cup of Coffee”. Bill was known for his sweet tooth and all will remember him enjoying that one more piece of chocolate, the extra spoonful of maple syrup, or the thick piece of extra old cheddar cheese on his apple pie. Friends will be received at a Celebration of Bill's life on Saturday February 4, 2017 at the Old Mill Toronto, 21 Old Mill Road. A private family interment of cremated remains will be at the Wingham Cemetery.

I will miss him forever. A real gem. His zest for life (food, travel, sports, but most of all his family, immediate and extended) was unmatched. He and Bea did a fantastic job of raising their kids and doing the most with what they had.

Will always have such fond memories of Bill. He was such a gentleman and will be greatly missed. He would very occasionally unlock the liquor cabinet and allow Vickie and I to have a tiny glass of sherry. We had many outings with him. He was such a wonderful family man. Rest in peace.
