In memory of

William Lewis Kerr

January 6, 1934 -  May 4, 2025

William Lewis Kerr, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 in Ontario, Canada. Born on January 6, 1934 in Edinburgh, Scotland, he was the fifth of seven children to the late William and Elizabeth Kerr.

Affectionately known as Lew, he met Irene when he was 18 years old. They were engaged the following year and married just months later on his first leave from the Royal Air Force. Together they built a life full of laughter, adventure, compassion and community. Along came two beautiful children and a move to Canada. Lew turned his hand to interiors and enjoyed his role as Supervisor at Hospital Maintenance Painters. He was a member of the Longboat Running Club and the Last Call Club; making many life long friends whilst training for marathons all over Canada and the US.

Lew was a gentle man with a sly sense of humour who always made time to help others. He enjoyed golf, gardening and travel. He loved music, dance and theater. Lew never said no to a party or fancy dress! But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Lew will be remembered for his unwavering love, endless generosity, quiet strength, warm smile, quick wit, smooth dance moves, undeniable sweet tooth and his perfect cup of tea. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lew is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Irene and his beloved daughter, Susan. He was the cherished grandfather to Jason, Adrienne, Jordan and Arlene and great-grandfather to Keegan, Abigail, Eliana, Ethan and Chloe. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who adored him dearly. Lew was sadly predeceased by his beloved son, Bryan.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Meadowvale Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centre. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm and a Celebration of Life reception will follow at 3:00-5:00pm.

Our condolences to Irene, Susan and family. Lew was such a gentleman. He was a man that enjoyed being with friends and family and loved a party with music and dancing. Lew would always have a little joke or would say something funny but never at anyone else's expense - he was a kind thoughtful man. He will be missed.

Dearest Lew.
One of the loveliest people I've ever had the privilege to meet. A true gentleman with a wonderful quiet sense of humour and a twinkle in his eye. Together with Irene...the perfect couple. Many fond memories.
Forever in my heart.

Lew was in our lives for many years and although we didn’t see him often, due to the distance between us, we thought of him and his lovely wife Irene often. We were so pleased to have spent a little time with them last year. Lew was such a lovely man, a real gentleman, wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed. Rest in Peace Lew
