In memory of

William "Bill" Hatch

October 21, 1935 -  April 1, 2023

William Hatch of Toronto, Ontario passed away on Saturday, April 1 2023, at the age of 87. After several months of declining health, William passed peacefully in his sleep.

William was born in Cardigan, Prince Edward Island, on October 21, 1935, to father Elmer Hatch and mother Annie Blackett. His mother passed when William was young so he helped out and worked any odd jobs he could find starting at an early age. Later in life he would go on to work in various industries including education, healthcare, transportation and property management.

His sense of adventure and work eventually brought him to Toronto where he met the love of his life and settled to make a family. William lived for the excitement and thrill of the race track, he loved to watch the ponies and loved it even more when his pick won.

William was preceded in death by his adoring wife Marlene Hatch (Bradbury) and by his brother Leroy Hatch. He is survived by his children Kathleen Ledrew and Deborah Baldassarra (Ciro Baldassarra); grandchildren Shawn Ledrew, Natali England, Juliano Baldassarra, and Elyse Bouwers; and great-grandchildren Parker Ledrew and Rosalie Bouwers.

The family will be having a private graveside ceremony at a future date. People wishing to honor William’s life can make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, at www.alzheimer.ca.

I am very so sorry to hear of Uncle Bill’s passing. I remember many happy times as kids sitting around and listening to my dad, Earl, and Uncle Bill strum “the ol’ gitboxes”. The back and forth “Are you mine? Yessiree!” duet with Aunt Marlene and lots of Hank Snow. My Dad and Uncle Bill shared a special bond with their mutual love of “the ponies” which resulted in weekly phone calls in the evening to compare notes and arrangements to meet at the track the following day. I’ll always remember my Uncle Bill fondly as a fun-loving soul who was friendly, outgoing and quick to laugh.
My heartfelt condolences to Kathy, Debbie, Ciro and the grandkids
