In memory of

William Gordon Arthur Lindsay

June 4, 1937 -  April 28, 2023

William (Bill) Lindsay

Peacefully, on Friday April 28th at the age of 85, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Loving husband of 63 years to Janet. Caring father of Sheryl (Brian), Steve (Lynne) and Suzanne. Devoted and fun loving Grandpa to Jane (Ann), Will (Bayleigh), Adam and Sophie. Much loved brother of Marie, Violet, Pat, and Margaret. Wonderful brother-in-law to Lorraine, Fred, Dave and Robert. Predeceased by his parents Richard and Florence, grandson Dillan, brothers/brothers-in-laws Jim, Richard, Ed, Noel, Wes and Earl, and sisters/sisters-in-laws Daisy, Janet, Betty and Della. He will also be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Born in Toronto’s Regent Park neighbourhood on June 4th, 1937, he overcame great adversity in his early life which gave him a lifelong sense of generosity to anyone in need. For his whole life he was known as someone who would lend a hand.
He went to the University of Toronto night school, in his thirties, while working full time, and achieved his undergraduate degree. Bill worked at the TD bank for over 30 years, mainly in the data centre at College Park, where he had many good friends and colleagues.
Bill’s faith was an important part of this life, and he was an active member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Scarborough for many years.
Bill loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He spent many summers in Orillia, at the cottage on Lake Simcoe, fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his brothers, son and nephews on McCrae Lake.
Bill was definitely the life of every party. He will be remembered for his zany costumes, musical talent and his great sense of humour.
Family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Chartwell Trilogy, Long Term Care Residence Scarborough, for their amazing care and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 11th 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Service on Friday May 12th at 11am at Pine Hills Cemetery 625 Birchmount Rd. Scarborough Ontario

Uncle Bill was a wonderful person and an all around really nice guy! His music and lively sense of humour were enjoyed by all.

Zarko and I had a lot of admiration and respect
for Bill - a genuine and caring man, and what an accomplishment - earning his B.A. at night school - true determination!

Our deepest sympathy to Aunt Janet and family. We hope you are comforted to know that Bill was loved and appreciated, and though truly missed, dearly remembered.

Rest In Peace, Uncle Bill

Loving Uncle Bill will sadly missed.

Lots of good Christian fellowship and wonderful memories: of fishing, prayer, helping others in need, and sharing the Love of Jesus Christ wherever he went.

Uncle Bill, was A very Loving Godly Christian Man.
A very kind strong man of the Christian Faith.

He had very good knowledge of the Bible (king James Version).
Also, he liked his Oswald Chambers Bible Companion book (My Utmost For His Highest).

Uncle Bill was, more than willing to share the love Jesus through scriptures if you asked him.
A man of great patience, and willing to give good Godly Christian advice to your needs.
He was also noted to tell a good clean joke, making people laugh.
The result was, everyone was very happy and joyful to be around Him.

He was very hardworking man, always willing to do more than his share.

He was my Bible mentor, and I learned lots good bible verses from him.

We love our Uncle Bill, and He was like second Father to me and my family.
The Martin and The Lindsay family.

One glorious day we will see our dear Uncle Bill again: in Heaven, with Christian relatives, all the saints, and our Wonderful Lord Jesus Christ Forever, and ever Amen.

Absent from the body present with Lord.

Janet - we are sorry to hear of Bill's passing.

The few times we met Bill at family functions he was definitely the life of the party.
- Especially his "rubber chicken" routine..

I got to know Bill on Wednesday nights at the church several years ago and would quite often run into him at Tim Horton's with his friends when I'd meet up with my friend. He would always wave over and say hello. Although I didn't know him well, I remember him as a lovely friendly man and his readings at church. Rest in peace dear man and may God bless you.
