In memory of

William (Bill) Catalano

October 8, 1937 -  January 21, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of William (Bill) Catalano on January 21, 2025. Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Lois, his beloved daughters Susan and Laura (Cosmo), and his granddaughters Sydney (Jonathan) and Phoebe of whom he was so very proud. Bill enjoyed every minute he spent with them.

Bill is survived by his sister, Frances (Bill). Predeceased by his parents, Leonardo and Maria Catalano, his sister Kay (Leonardo), his brother Joe (Denise), and many cherished family members and friends whom he missed greatly.

Bill was born and grew up in North Toronto, rooted in family and community. He looked forward to summers at the lake where he hosted the annual “Catalano Classic” golf tournaments, played bocce, and enjoyed naps on the dock. He followed sports avidly, messaging back and forth with family the scores, updates, and analyses.

Bill loved food and having friends and family gathered round the table, going out with family and colleagues to restaurants or sneaking in an ice cream cone any afternoon. He was a man who enjoyed all things that brought family and friends together, embodying a spirit of love and kindness that touched everyone he met.

A visionary and innovative thinker, Bill’s passion was his work. As a young man in the 60s, he recognized the transformative power of technology. His progressive mindset and curiosity shaped the course of his career. Bill began his professional journey at Philips in the 50s followed by influential roles at CCM, and Rogers Communications (Vice President) and most recently as a business consultant with Aasania. Bill always approached his work with dedication and enthusiasm. His leadership and mentorship earned him the respect of his colleagues.

Bill was a good man, generous, kind, and loyal; a man of great integrity and character. He will always be remembered and never forgotten.

Thank you to the team at Sunnybrook for their exceptional care, and to family, friends, and Bill’s colleagues for their support.

Please consider donating to the Sunnybrook Foundation, in Bill’s memory, to support the vital work they do each day.

Visitation will be at Mt. Pleasant Funeral Centre from 2-4 pm and from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 30th, and at 10 am on Friday, January 31st, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am.
