In memory of

William Bruce Godson

December 20, 1960 -  February 9, 2019

GODSON, WILLIAM BRUCE 12/20/1960 - 02/09/2019
Passed away peacefully, in his 59th year, after a determined fight with cancer. Husband to Libby
(Falconer) of 21 years and devoted father to Alexandra. He is survived by his brother Barry
and sister Barb. Brother-in-law to Bill Falconer and uncle to Josee and Jennifer and families.
Bill’s passion project after his cancer diagnosis was to make others aware that prostate PSA
testing is not necessarily an accurate indicator of prostate health. He also wanted others to
know that recent studies have found that a percentage of men with baldness (not merely an
age-related receding hair line) are at greater risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer. In
sharing this information, it was Bill’s desire to help reduce the risk for others.
A service will be held for Bill, on Sunday March 17th, at 1:30pm - 3:30pm at the Mount Pleasant
Funeral Centre, located at 375 Mt Pleasant Rd in Toronto.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Southlake Regional Health Centre, in memory
of Bill, would be greatly appreciated.
We wish to thank Dr. Lebner, her team, Dale, Mindy, Leigh-anne, and Flora for their incredible
care and support. Libby and Alexandra would also like to thank the many friends and family
members who have reached out to them with kindness.

Dear Libby & Alexandra,

I just got the news - I am on an epic road trip that Bill would totally endorse - and I don’t know what to say.

As a native of Peterborough and an alumnus of Lakefield and Bishop’s...suffice it to say I knew WBG as well as any guy of our vintage.

Billy turned me on to John Prine in the summer of ‘79. Unfortunately I will have to pay my respects remotely on the 17th....but I think he’d smile if at some point during the remembrance you played his song “When I Get to Heaven”

I will be thinking of him and you.

Our thoughts are with Bill’s family. May the wonderful memories that you all shared comfort you.
We hope that this gem of wisdom by Charles Schultz will also comfort you.
“ Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know that they are happy. “
Love and hugs,
Rosemarie snd Stephen Taylor 🦋🌠
