In memory of

William "Bill" Johnson

January 22, 1928 -  May 10, 2022

The world lost a wonderful man late in the evening on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 when William Johnson passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital. William, or Bill to his friends, and Willie to others will be missed by many, both young and old.
Bill was born in England and emigrated to Canada as an infant. He settled in Verdun, QC with his mom and dad. Bill’s early days were spent as a happy-go-lucky lad who loved sports, especially baseball and hockey. In fact, legend has it that he was so good, that he played semi-pro ball! He embarked on a career that spanned over 30 years beginning with Northern Electric, then Nortel and ending with Bell Canada. It was the transition to Bell Canada that brought him to Mississauga in the mid 1970’s. He retired in the early 1980’s and that’s when his life really began! It was soon after that he become involved in the socials and good works of the Nortel Pioneers.
Bill loved to golf and ski with his friends and went out every chance he got … skiing well into his 70s. He loved the Toronto Blue Jays and would happily discuss baseball strategy with any like-minded individual.
Bill was also a tireless aid to his friends! Even in his 80s, he drove friends to appointments all over the city – single-handedly easing the burden on Wheel-Trans and any other such services in the GTA. He was a joy to have a meal with or spend an evening with and he never missed an opportunity to drop in a perfectly apt pun that would cause groans around the room.
Bill will be missed by many but leaves behind a legacy of positivity and happy memories to all who knew him! A visitation, service and reception will be held on Wednesday May 18th beginning at 11:00am at The Simple Alternative, 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga, ON, CANADA, L4W 5J1
