In memory of

William Alexander Porter

February 23, 1931 -  August 1, 2023

It is with with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to beloved father and grandfather, William Porter. William Alexander Porter was a firefighter with the Toronto Fire Department and will always be remembered as a hero. With his loving wife, Lorraine, he raised three strong and independent children- William, Debbie and Patricia. William and Lorraine were caregivers and adventure-creators to their grandchildren- Madison, Marlee, Elise, Wesley, James and Nathan. Devastatingly in 2016 the family said goodbye to Debbie and Lorraine and although we are sad for William to leave us on August 1st, we are sure he is happy to be reunited with his wife, daughter and recently deceased sister Jean. William Porter will always be remembered for his quick and witty one-liners, his generous heart and listening ear. The celebration of his long and full life will be hosted at The Simple Alternative (1535 S Gateway Rd, Mississauga, ON, L4W5G6) on August 15th from 2-4 and 7-8 with a Memorial Service at 8pm. If desired, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Uncle Bill was a beloved brother to my mother, Jean Porter Horn and their sister, Eileen Porter Jarrett (Doug). Their antics as children were of Hollywood proportion. While their personal lives may have diverged in time and place, the three of them were bound together by their exceptional story telling skills, witty word play, side-splitting humour, personal integrity, compassion, generosity and Christian faith. While Eileen passed away nearly 20 years ago, Jean and Bill kept her memory vibrantly alive with a roster of their stories. Jean and Bill died 9 days apart; the three siblings are together, once more. Pour the tea; pass the biscuits. Let us rejoice! Earth’s Loss: Heaven’s Gain.
