William A. Provis

August 23, 1939 -  November 10, 2017

In loving memory of William "Bill" Provis who passed away peacefully after a short illness at Rouge Valley Health Centenary on Friday November 10th, 2017. Born in Montreal on August 23rd, 1939 to his late parents Juliette (nee Poliquin) and Edgar Provis, Survived by loving wife Barbara (nee Mason), married for 55 happy years, sons James, with wife Christina, and Paul, with wife Kelly, grandchildren Rachel, Kate, Mason, and Brandon, brother Edgar (Ted) Provis, and sister Julie Barkhouse, uncle to many nephews and nieces and as well as other close family, relatives and friends. Bill and his family moved to Ontario and spent time in Kearney and the Toronto area, starting out in the printing business with Howarth & Smith but soon found his passion in the Marine industry for many years. He started Argosy Marine Repairs later partnering with many organizations primarily as a Marine Surveyor and Insurance Claims Adjuster, he enjoyed this work until his final days on a part time basis and was known in the industry as one of the good ones. Bill enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family travelling. He touched many lives and was respected as a true professional and always a gentleman. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday the 18th of November, 2017 at The Simple Alternative 1057 Brock Road, Pickering. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Donations can be made on Bill's behalf to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

I've known Bill for roughly forty years, and respected him for just as long. I've been his employee, his supplier, and his customer. I've recommended him to my clients, without hesitation, consulted with him, and for him. His knowledge was awesome, his integrity impressive, his sense of humour philosophical, his friendship genuine.
He will be sorely missed.
