In memory of

Wilbert John Malik

IN LOVING MEMORY

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father Wilbert John Malik. He passed away peacefully, his sons by his side, on Wednesday July 24, 2024. God granted him 79 wonderful year on this earth for which we're immeasurably grateful for. He was devoted husband to the late Zarina Malik for over four decades. Dedicated and loving father to his sons Jason R. and Jonathan S. Malik. Proud father in-law to Nikita Ah-Long. Beloved grandpa to his precious granddaughter Ariyah Eden Malik. Dear brother of Milton John, Sheela David (late), David Malik (late), Hilda Nasreen and Emmanuel Jameel Malik. He was predeceased by his father Nand Lal who was born in Dhariwal, Gurdaspur, India and his mother Rehmat who was born in Quetta, Balochistan, India.

Wilbert John Malik was born on October 19, 1944 in Bannu, Pakistan. He graduated high school from Edwards College in Peshawar, Pakistan. He earned his MBBS from Khaiber Medical College in Peshawar, Pakistan. He went on to serve as a medical doctor at United Christian Hospital (UCH) in Lahore, Pakistan. He also served as a Captain in the Pakistani Army in his capacity as MD.

Our dear father moved to Canada from Pakistan in the mid 1970's. He worked so hard and sacrificed so much to build a brighter future here along with our beloved mother. For this sacrifice we are so incredibly thankful. He was unable to continue his medical practice in Canada but adapted quickly and became well established in the food processing industry. He retired from the business in 2015.

He was a true pioneer who crossed oceans to build a brighter future in a new land of opportunity. Even though his immediate family did not embark on the journey to Canada with him he remained very close to them while treating his in-laws as his very own. A man of faith and of few words, he led by example. The epitome of endless devotion to his family and well respected by all in his community. He would impart wisdom from a stern exterior but sprinkle it with a witty sense of humour. He would display a softer side from time to time which was certainly a treat. As many can attest, to truly know him was to love the simple yet complex man that he was. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters (through blood and marriage) and his numerous nieces and nephews and their children whom he all loved equally.

His trust and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ was the pillar by which he continually protected, provided and guided us. He wanted the very best for his children and for them to be the best they could possibly be. His granddaughter was the apple of his eye and brought him such tremendous joy! Throughout his many health challenges later in life including his most recent illness he never once complained. He demonstrated immense courage and strength that could only come through his unwavering faith.

Our hearts are broken but our Hope is Everlasting. God's will has now been fulfilled in Wilbert John's life as he would tell us on many occasions. The LORD has taken him home and he will abide in His house forever. We are eternally grateful to God for him. Our hero whose blessed memory will always be in our hearts.

It is with deep sadness that we received the news that our brother-in-law, Wilbert John Malik has gone to Heaven. While we are sad to lose him, we are relieved also that he is no longer in pain and suffering. As Christians we believe that he is now in Heaven and enjoying heavenly peace and bliss. Rest in Peace brother Wilbert.
His sons, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, his brother, sister, nephews and nieces are all in our prayers that God's peace and solace will abide with them now and in the days to come.
