In memory of

Werner Herterich

February 14, 1931 -  January 28, 2024

Werner Herterich peacefully passed away on Sunday January 28 at Toronto's St Michaels Hospital following years of declining health. He was born on February 14, 1931 and emigrated to Toronto from Germany in 1954. He was a Master Carpenter and established a successful construction company during which time he also built two of his own residences. Following a very successful career, he retired and built his summer home near Parry Sound. Werner was an avid reader, windsurfer and maker of his "world famous summer drinks". He is survived by Ilse, his wife of 73 years, and his sons Werner Jr. (Meg) and Rainer (Diane), five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A private celebration of life is planned for the spring.

Although we may have never met the man we have many many stories from younger Werner.
Senior was an amazing man. He came came from Europe after the war and started a company that still exists. Both his sons followed their dreams and succeeded.
He will be missed by all the family that is scattered across the world. Remember, that as long as there is someone who remembers you you are still here. Anyone can ask him for a little help when needed.

Our condolenses to you, Ilse, and the rest of your family. I remember Werner well. He treated my husband, Wayne very well and fairly in his business. We respected and appreciated Werner. When Wayne was too sick to work, Werner came and did some basement completion work for us on our house that we were building. Before Wayne passed away, Werner gifted us with an amazing vacation, he was a very generous man / employer. His building and carpentry work was second to none, he took pride in his work and made sure it was perfect. I still have a cabinet that we purchased from his company 46 years ago and it is still in perfect shape - top notch quality.
