In memory of
Wendy Mi Chun Leung
July 31, 1958 -
September 26, 2022
Wendy passed away peacefully at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital in the wee hours of September 26, 2022 in the company of her husband Gregory, her daughter Andrea, her sister-in-laws Frances and Doris, and also with her brother Simon and sister Judy on the phone.
Born in Hong Kong, Wendy was the second child of a family of four children. She started helping with her father's various businesses even when she was at a very young age. She helped extensively with stock keeping, store keeping, bookkeeping, tax preparation, appraisal, quotations preparation and even Chinese herbal medicine handling among others things. All these past experiences moulded her into a structured and organized person which further transcended into her work after college graduation. Wendy has a very lovable heart and thoughtfulness for her family. Whenever there was a need for advice or help on anything from her mom or siblings, she would always be there to offer the best she could.
After working for a few months as an assistant supervisor in the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club, in 1981, Wendy joined Survey Research Hong Kong Limited, one of the largest market research companies in Hong Kong at the time. With hard work and outstanding performances, Wendy was promoted all the way from the initial assistant fieldwork supervisor to Associate Director in a little over 10 years. Wanting to build a closer relationship with her daughter Andrea, Wendy decidedly quit her job to spend more time with Andrea starting 1995.
Since moving to Toronto in the summer of 1996, Wendy was very actively involved in the community. She was engaged in different volunteer activities like Cantonese Parents Association, Sex Education Ambassador, Women's Holistic Health Peer Leader, etc. She gratefully embraced Canadian values and traditions and gave back to the community.
Apart from her volunteering activities, Wendy was socially active. She attended calligraphy classes for several years. Besides practicing Qigong and Tai Chi for many years, she also regularly attended senior muscle conditioning and fitness classes. Wendy liked traveling a lot and took very good photos. Over the past years she visited 57 countries. Wendy has been to 29 States in the US, 7 Provinces in Canada and 20 Provinces, Municipalities or Autonomous Regions in China. She has created a photobook featuring some of her favourite photos taken over these years. A trip to Iceland was her most memorable journey. Her last two trips to China in 2018 and 2019 were the Three Gorges Cruise and to a section of the Silk Road. Both were one of the priorities on her bucket list. She has completed her travel journey in a high note.
Wendy has a lifelong passion for animals. She grew up with a variety of pets. Although a cocker spaniel was her dream, she ended up doting upon a black and white tuxedo cat that was later given the name Simcoe. He absolutely adored her and she adored him right back. Everywhere she went on her travels, she made furry friends.
Wendy's smile and energy will be forever remembered by her family and friends.
