Rest In Peace, darling Poppa. 👼🏻💗I wish I could thank you just one more time so, here goes… thank you for being one of my first (and my oldest) best friends.
For all of our adventures, Tobermory, Manitoulin Island, Niagara Falls, Sauble Beach… we had so many. You fostered my love for knowledge, my expertise for the crossword puzzle and my love for Toaster Stroodles for breakfast. You helped teach me how to navigate this world *graciously* and *politely* (lord knows I made you absolutely crazy). In the times when I was in trouble, you made it a lesson to teach me and listening closely always earned me a piece of your “Crunch” chocolate bar or a bowl of Sorbet. Even though Grammie likes having things healthy, we kept it our secret.
Thank for making me laugh like nobody else with “Newfie” jokes… and that quip comedic edge. For being one of the first people to encourage my imagination - gifting me Harry Potter as a 2 part, burned DVD (LOL) or you and Uncle Chad making sure I had the entire novel collection of “A Series of Unfortunate Events” to read. You faced your own doubts and fears to let me adventure this world, fearlessly - we all know riding my bike outside of the court, or even just swimming had you at wits end but much to your dismay, you (mostly) let me explore anyways.
I’ll never forget playing “Pajama Sam” or “Freddy Fish” on your computer for the first time… though I’m pretty sure you only allowed me so I’d stop *talking* so much (but you always listened, no matter what). Thank you for showing me a “Shirley Temple”, the freshest of sandwiches and for always hiding boxes of Smarties in the bottom of your refrigerator for us. For bringing me to the “Silly Centre” (Bramalea City Centre) even though you HATED it. I still pick Pepsi over Coke, because of you.
Most importantly, I’d like to thank you for picking me to be the sole heiress of your deeply sought after “Naiomis” (Nanaimo Bars) recipe. I promise I’ll perfect them and make it a holiday regular. I’ll never forget to tell everyone about your memory while sharing them (or eating them ALL myself).
You’re still such a part of my life in a million ways, even if I don’t always see it. We were so lucky to have you… the head of the family table is lost without you and so are we. I know that you will live on in every one of us, always. I can’t wait to see you again, dance with you again or even to just sit in your lap like I used to. I miss you, now and forever but I know you’re not in pain now, so I won’t be either. I’ll be seeing you.
*Ciao*
