In memory of

Warren Franklin Goodyear

May 21, 1939 -  March 1, 2023

Warren Franklin Goodyear passed away peacefully at the Ian Anderson House on Wednesday March 1, 2023 surrounded by his family. Warren was born in White Rock, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland on May 21, 1939. His family came to Toronto in 1949. He will be sadly missed by his wife Karen of 47 years, son Corey (Madeline), son Mark (Brandie) and daughter Laura (Ricardo). He was a proud and devoted Papa to his grandchildren Natalia, Noah, Dhario, Rallo, Ivy and Calista. He will be missed by his extended family in Ontario, Newfoundland and the United States and will be remembered fondly by many dear friends and colleagues.

Warren lived an interesting and full life. He enjoyed telling stories about his home in Newfoundland and all of his life experiences and adventures. While working in New York for Trans Canada Airlines, he was drafted into the US army and served for 2 years in Oklahoma 1963-1965. In 1973-1974, Warren helped to build a ski chalet in Quebec and over the years enjoyed skiing at various mountains in Canada, Vermont, and in Europe. He was a keen hockey player and participated in several half marathons. He retired from Air Canada after 42 ½ years and traveled to many countries throughout his lifetime.

Warren loved sailing and won several racing awards. He had many adventures cruising down to the Bahamas, Quebec City, through three of the Great Lakes and along the North Channel. Notably, he was a founding member and a Commodore at Lakeshore Yacht Club. He attended and supported his children and grandchildren at their sporting events and various activities, along with coaching a hockey team. Warren enjoyed working on cars and was a “jack of all trades” around his home. Warren enjoyed playing his guitars and singing. He was well read, and you would often find a book in his hand.

Warren will be remembered by many for his passion of driving & owning sports cars, for his love of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, his “beloved” New York Giants, his enthusiasm for Formula 1 races and for having a never ending repertoire of interesting stories for all of life’s circumstances.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday May 17, 2023 at 1:00-3:00 pm, at the Simple Alternative Funeral Home, 1535 S Gateway Rd. Mississauga.

Sounds like Warren was a “down to earth guy”; enjoyed and lived his life to the fullest; no matter the season or location. Thinking of “you all” as you celebrate his life.

My friendship with Warren started through his wife, Karen. I loved talking to Warren and he always made me feel so welcome in his house. He was warm and engaging, unpretentious and a teller of stories. I thoroughly enjoyed being in his warm and thoughtful presence.

Warren was a very special man, the beautiful story written about his life describes him perfectly and brought back many cherished memories! We loved sailing with his family in the Thousand Islands, where we first met and around Lake Ontario. Our families also skied together a few times. Our trip to Australia and a Bare Boat Charter in the British Virgin Islands with Karen and Warren are fond experiences we will never forget. Brian and Warren had many tall tales about their delivery experiences on the Atlantic ocean. We enjoyed keeping in touch over the years, hearing about Karen and Warren's wonderful grandchildren and his many interests and commitments.
We have so many lovely memories of sharing adventures with the Goodyear's!

May your family find Comfort and Peace with you memories of a life lived to the fullest. May you all continue to live your lives to the fullest to honour Warren.

Love, Brian, Judi, Josh and Ben
