In memory of

Wan Ki Lo

January 11, 1932 -  November 19, 2019

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Wan Ki Lo, at the age of 89*, on November 19, 2019 at North York General Hospital. He is dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Yuen May, his son Chin Cheung, daughters Julia and Alvina, spouses of his children Daisy and Edward, and his adoring sister Eva and brother Wan Jam.

A descendant of the respectable Lo family, Wan Ki spent his youth in the Lo Mansion located in Homantin, Hong Kong. He married Yuen May in 1967 and soon established his own family on Homantin Hill. In the 70’s, his career as a businessman thrived in import and export trade. His success continued into the early 80’s. A turning point of his life came in 1985, when he immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in search of a safer homeland for the family. Wan Ki was named an Honorable Citizen of Winnipeg for his contributions to the city while managing a Mongolian restaurant. It was only after the family moved to Toronto in 1988 that he began his retired life.

Wan Ki was a life-long learner and continued to seek enjoyment in the arts. Passionate as always, he was an avid classical music lover. He practised Chinese calligraphy and engaged himself with poetry appreciation and composition. Above all, he found delight in sharpening his mind as well as socializing with his beloved friends over the Mahjong table. His friends were often entertained by his wit and humor at dim-sum and dinner gatherings. His cheerfulness, kind heart and generosity will always be cherished.

Please join us on November 30, 2019, Saturday for the following ceremonies at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre:
