In memory of

Waltraut Weprajetzki

Reunited with her beloved husband, Güenter, who predeceased her. Loving mother of Susan (Mahmoud) and Barbara (Norm) and adoring grandmother of Jasmine and Brandon (Wei).

Waltraut found joy and happiness with family, in her career as a nurse (where she found her calling in the delivery room), at the cottage, and during “kaffeeklatsch.” She worked wonders with her sewing machine. Her door was always open for a cup of coffee and to share her opinion!

Waltraut was forever giving. Her kindness was unmatched. She had an undying and fierce love for her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings (Annemarie [Dieter], Gisela, Hermann predeceased [Ursula, predeceased], Adolf, Ingrid [Peter, predeceased], Gerhard [Beryl]), parents (Waldemar and Johanna, predeceased), nieces and nephews. She was incredibly close to her sisters and brothers, with whom she built a life in Canada in the late 1950s after emigrating from Germany. Last but not least, she welcomed the animal companions who joined the family over the years, and they loved her back.

We are forever blessed for her influence over our lives and grateful for her numerous sacrifices for our comfort. Waltraut will be greatly missed, forever in our hearts and remembered for her generosity and devotion to her family.

Many thanks to the staff at Union Villa Long-Term Care (and prior to that at MacKenzie Place Long-Term Care), who provided “Val” with loving care and kindness during the past years as the Alzheimer's disease became more debilitating.

Waltraut, you are now at peace and free. May God bless your beautiful soul.

In keeping with her long-standing wishes, cremation and Celebration of Life has taken place.

You will forever be remembered for the care and love that you gave our Dad during the first few years of his life.

You will also be remembered for the conversations around the Campfire at The Cottage and of course the afternoon kaffeeklatsch.

You were the first person that Dad spoke to after Scott's tragic and sudden death while playing hockey - I am positive that he has greeted and welcomed you in Heaven.

Gerhard Gedies (Brother)

Mere words cannot possibly capture my profound love, respect and gratitude to my dear sister Waltraut for the unconditional sacrifices made for us younger siblings of the Gedies family, in particular, during your teenage years.
Along with our oldest sister, Annemarie, during the second world war in a refugee camp in Denmark and the post-war times in Stolzenberg, Germany, as well as the early years in Canada, you placed your personal dreams and ambitions on hold as major breadwinners in support of our family. This leadership by example has created an inseparable bond between all of us siblings that shall never be broken either here on Earth or our lives thereafter.
Thank you, my sister, for the significant part you played throughout our multifaceted challenges as a family of what is really important in life.
