Wai Yin Lai 黎惠然
Passed away peaceful on December 23th, 2023 at 96 years old. Born in Kwonghoi, Hoishan, Kwongtung Province, China, Wai Yin immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1953.
Wai Yin worked loyally for over 35 years at Canada Post, Toronto South Central Plant. For over 65 years, he served faithfully as an executive member of the Kwonghoi (Kwong Hoi Leun Hop Wai) Association. Wai Yin never forgot his roots; he supported the Kwonghoi community from overseas and helped new immigrant families from the region establish in Toronto. He gave generously to his home village, including the building of a recreation centre with sponsorship from his brothers. He also established a number of scholarships to assist Kwonghoi students to further their education.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Kam Ping Chan; daughter Janet (predeceased Stephen) Lee; sons Ging (June) and David; grandchildren Bobby, Crystal (Derek), Mindy (Martin), and Kimberley (David); great grandchildren Jamie and Rosalie.
Wai Yin will be remembered as a loving, thoughtful and generous man. A devoted family man, he cared for the welfare of his mother, his 4 younger brothers and sister, sons, daughter and grandchildren. Wai Yin carried out his family duties and responsibilities with honour and grace.
He will be dearly missed by his family, extended family and many friends from the post office and the Kwonghoi Association.

慈父黎惠然1953年移居加拿大多倫多,从事邮政工作及积极参与社团公益活动数拾年,一生爱国爱乡,为家乡建设作出不可磨滅的貢獻。同时也帮助过无数亲朋好友。
兹定于 2024年 1月 5日(星期五)中午12点至下午3点在 Elgin Mills Cemetery (1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, ON, Canada, L4S 1M9) 举行葬礼仪式(12pm詹仰遗容、1pm追悼仪式、2:30pm出殡)。仪式后解慰酒(地点到时通知)。望各亲朋好友互相转告届时参加。
