In memory of
Wah Ho Kwan - 關華賀先生安息
August 20, 1949 -
May 18, 2023
Mr. Wah Ho Kwan – dedicated father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend – passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023. He is survived by his wife Teresa, his two children Wilson (and daughter-in-law Manli) and Betty (and son-in-law Nick), and five grandchildren Justin, Janice, George-Alexander, John-Mathias and Dimitrios. He is also survived by his brother Shermen (and his family May, Joshua and Natalie).
Mr. Kwan was born in China on August 20, 1949 and immigrated to Hong Kong shortly after his second birthday. From an early age, he helped his mother take care of the household while his father sailed across the seas as a Shipwright. He was a protective brother and father figure to his younger brother.
At the age of 18, he accepted an opportunity that landed him in Montreal, Canada. A few years later, he got married and started his own family. His parents came over to help with the childcare. He would eventually move the family to Toronto, where he could reunite with his younger brother who was studying in Ottawa.
He was courageous, ambitious and loyal. He worked hard to provide for his loved ones and shared generously. Above all things, he valued family the most – there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. To friends and neighbours, he was an easy-going, friendly and funny guy who loved to crack jokes. He enjoyed exchanging stories with others and making connections.
He was a trained machinist and chef by trade. But his passion projects included gardening, home renovations, woodworking and carpentry. He was a jack of all trades – forever curious, and ever-learning new skills. His house is a gallery of his masterpieces which will remind his family of his endless creativity and determination.
