In memory of

Violet Constance "Vi" Hanes

July 9, 1927 -  January 11, 2021

Vi Hanes passed away peacefully after a short battle with COVID19, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Terry for more than 71 years, loving mother of Carolyn Major (Doug), and the late Barbara Hanes-Kennedy (Jim), devoted nana of Jennifer Wilson (Mark), Katie Major-Austin (Jamie), Patrick Kennedy (Megan) and Adam Kennedy; and adoring great nana to Finley, Braeden, Isaac and Ella. Predeceased by her brother George, sisters Margaret Medlock (Al), and Eileen Mackasey (Laurie), Vi left this world on the same day and time as her loving brother Bill Scott (Marcia) and will be dearly missed by her sisters Ruth Gibson (Walter) and Joan MacFayden (John). Aunt Vi’s memory will be cherished by her many nieces and nephews.

Born in Toronto, Vi graduated from Northern Secondary School, and began administrative work in the food industry. After marrying Terry, she enjoyed part-time work at the Victorian Order of Nurses and went on to be a volunteer at Sunnybrook Hospital for over 30 years. During their long and active retirement Vi and Terry enjoyed travelling extensively with family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren and enjoying hours of sparkling conversation on the phone.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a future date.
