It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vijaya Kawale, our beloved Aai, Aaji, Maushi, and Kaku. She peacefully left us on October 9th, 2025 at the age of 84. Vijaya was born in Ahmednagar, India on June 1, 1941. In 1968, she immigrated to Canada with her husband, Sharad, along with their three young sons.

Vijaya was predeceased by her husband of 56 years in 2015. She leaves behind her three beloved sons, Nitin, Nish, and Upen who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her loving daughter-in-laws, Priti and Anita, and her seven devoted grandchildren - Neel, Jai, Mahika, Rohun, Maya, Anahita, and Devin. Vijaya was beautiful both inside and out. She was incredibly intelligent, wise and pragmatic. To those who knew her, Vijaya was the very definition of strength and courage. In everything she did, her resilience shone through. She built a new life in a country where everything, even the language, was foreign and embraced her new homeland with warmth, grace, and the spirit of community.

She sacrificed everything for those lucky enough to be loved by her. She asked for nothing and gave everything. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, never missing a chance to say how proud she was, and always making sure you were well fed (and then fed some more).

Vijaya’s legacy is one of love, friendship, and a genuine desire to bring happiness to those around her. Her cheerful nature and generous spirit will be missed dearly, but her memory will remain forever in the hearts of all she touched.

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti - You will be forever loved and missed
