In memory of

Victor Yat Wai Tung

October 1, 1981 -  February 15, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Victor Tung on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the age of 42.

Victor was a remarkable person, a valued colleague, a devoted friend and a passionate mentor who has left a lasting legacy with his family, friends and colleagues.

Victor will be remembered as someone who was kind, caring and committed to supporting those around him. He worked at BMO for the last 12 years and most recently served as the Chief Information and Operations Officer for BMO Capital Markets and Commercial Bank. He was an exceptional leader and a strong advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, both in work and in life. While technology was Victor’s passion, he was also fiercely dedicated to building a more inclusive society and served as a respected member of many councils and boards.

Victor will be missed by his family and they would like to thank their extended family and friends for their support during this very difficult time.

Victor’s family will be holding a private visitation and funeral on Friday, February 23 with only close family and friends present. A link to view the Virtual Service will become available on Friday February 23rd, at 11:00am promptly, and will be found at the top of this page.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the following organizations that Victor cared deeply about:

Ascend - Enhancing the presence, visibility, and influence of Pan-Asian talent. Providing programs and events to help develop future leaders. Create connections and give back to the Pan Asian community.

Skills for Change - Working with newcomers and underserved groups, developing skill sets, opportunities, and access to good work. Providing holistic solutions that bridge the gap between potential and opportunity for success in Canada.

SickKids – Every year, some 100,000 patients come to The Hospital for Sick Children from across the province, country and even the world for specialized care, while their scientists are making important medical discoveries every day.
