In memory of
Victor Melville Seabrook
June 25, 1928 -
May 18, 2022
B.A. L.L.B Q.C. On May 18, 2022 in his 93rd year. Former husband to Isobel (Bette) Ruth Seabrook (nee Cameron) of Toronto. Survived by his son, Richard; and his wife, Susan, of Kensington, Maryland, US; his sons, Peter and Timothy, both of Toronto; and his grandchildren, Malcolm, Ian, Helena and Trevor. Predeceased by his sister, Dora Pratt of North Gower and by his sisters Lorraine Wilson and Beverley Stevens, both of Toronto. Victor was born and raised in Richmond, Ontario where he later attended Trinity College (UofT) and earned his law degree from Osgoode Hall where his passion for debate, politics and the Conservative Party began. "Just a simple farm boy from the Ottawa Valley" as he often described himself, Vic, as he was referred to, was a self-made "Bay Street Barrister" where he earned a reputation for his unmatched work ethic, his mentorship to young lawyers in the firm of his namesake, and later in his career as a successful risk taker where he moved his family to Denver and Palm Beach and worked as a General Counsel for a multi-national company and real estate developer, only to return to practice law in Toronto, retiring at the age of 80. Disciplined and a creature of habit, in his "retirement", this force of nature enjoyed putting "miles" on his car driving up to Jackson's Point to the old family cottage at The Briar's, the odd game of golf in his khaki shorts with his languid repetitive practice swings at The Toronto Golf Club, a good old mystery novel with a glass of scotch, sampling wine from the offerings of the Albany Club, but most of all, he literally lived and died with the fortunes of his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs as a 35 year plus season ticket holder. Simply put, he was gentleman to everyone he met, a loyal and supportive counsel to his family with an unending well of patience and generosity. He will be greatly missed. At his request, a private funeral service will be held and interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. If desired, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and/or CAMH.
