It is with very heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Veronica/Veronique ‘Jacqueline’ Hosztafi. She died peacefully knowing family near and far loved her dearly. She recently turned a wise 84 years old.
Born on September 20th, 1940, in La Louvière Maurage, Belgium, to parents Ladislaw and Julia Toth. Veronica will be dearly missed by two surviving sisters Anna and Elizabeth and departed siblings Vasil, Maria, John, George, Tony, Julie and Michel. She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline, Anna, and Lisette and grandchildren Matthew, Anthony, Alex and Ginette.
Anyone that knew Veronica knew she had a gift to gab and loved life and gave generously to various charities and even would give to homeless people bags of clothing and food. She had a soft spot for so many people and animals.
On August 8th, 1970, she found real love with Alex Hosztafi who warmly welcomed three young daughters. For years she worked midnight shifts at a bank data centre to ensure that a parent would always be around the kids, night or day. Early days, fun times were spent visiting family, playing poker with her siblings, camping and cottage trips. Later years her interests included bingo with family and friends in tow as well as pro golf on TV. She adored her grandchildren and her ‘furry’ ones too. Veronica was a very independent, spirited and feisty individual who lived on her own up until her stroke.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "Heart and Stroke Foundation" OR dedicate a mass in her name. Please find the link to the donation website under the "Donations" tab.
