In memory of

Verona Jones

October 29, 1927 -  January 14, 2021

Our dear Verona has been called home to glory. Verona, our spirited and compassionate matriarch, died peacefully in her sleep on the evening of January 14th 2021 surrounded by family both in person and virtually, she was 93 years of age. Verona leaves behind her loving children Joan Forde and Gregory Jones. She is predeceased by her son John Forde and husband Rupert Jones.

Verona has a full and vibrant family, each of whom will miss her dearly but remember her fondly. Born in the beautiful island of Barbados, she worked tirelessly to provide the best for her children and grandchildren. She brought her determination and work ethic with her when she emigrated to Canada in the mid 1970s. She strongly believed that with education one could reach the clouds, and encouraged and supported her children and grandchildren to that end. Anyone who knew Verona also knew she would not tolerate you not giving your best. She was quick to pull you up and forced you to live your best life.

She had a very strong love of God and shared that love among her family, friends and extended her hand to strangers. She was a member of the Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years where she served as not only a member but was mentor to many young women. The family would like to thank the staff of Woodhall Park Care Community. We extend thank you to all our wonderful family and friends who shared stories and their memories, messages of love and condolences, cards and gifts.

Verona will be laid to rest on Friday January 22, 2021. The service will be held at the Pine Hill Funeral Centre, and we are blessed to have Pastor Errol Lawrence presiding over the service. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only close family are permitted to attend in person. We welcome you to join us via the live stream beginning at 1:20 p.m. and sign the guest book.

Sis Jones I know you cannot read this but I just want to say knowing you was a Joy.
I know sis Jones for over 20 years which was a to me and my Daughter whom she adore and had as her own.
What a wonderful, beautiful, and giving Person I happen to have in my life. She was a loving and giving person in everything. I love her jokes when I visit her and there was not anything we didn’t talk about.
I was saddened when she left Toronto but I kept in touch with her for some time until news came to me she was not doing well and that made me more sad.
My Friend May your Soul Rest In Peace and I know you are in peace with your God.
I will Remember All the things you have done for me and my daughter and I always told you I was Great full. Thanks for my name that you give me I will forever be your Lover Girl as you called Me.

I will always love you with my whole heart because you show me all your Love when you were here.
I will meet you in the morning and I am confident about that so until then RIP My Friend.
Love You.
