In memory of

Vernon Reginald Cross

December 26, 2021

CROSS, Vernon Reginald – Passed away after a long battle with dementia early on December 26, 2021 in his 92nd year. Vern loved cars, particularly Cadillac’s, and was an avid golfer who enjoyed staying active and busy. He was an extremely capable handyman, who for years worked tirelessly to maintain and improve the family cottage. His granddaughters all remember him as a competitive (but fun-loving) player of games, like Connect4, Snap and Crokinole, as well as a Solitaire enthusiast and chocolate chip cookie lover. Though he started his working life as a plasterer, he ended up working for IBM for 33 years, and was a well-loved manager there; he was a charming and intelligent man, known for his sense of humour, integrity and kindness.

He leaves behind his wife Joan, children, Sue (Brian), Doug (Anne-Marie), grandchildren, Trisha (Andrew), Kristi, Laura and Erin, and great-granddaughter, Abigail. He is pre-deceased by his eldest son, Steven.

Though he lived a long and wonderful life he will still be deeply missed by his family and those who knew him.

A private ceremony will be held by the family; in lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society https://alzheimer.ca/york/en/take-action/donate/donate-now
