Veena Parmar

Veena Parmar passed away peacefully on Friday November 20 at the Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Veena was born on April 6, 1940 in Sheikhupura, India. Her parents, Mukund Ram Sachdeva and Prakash Kaur had eight children and Veena was the fifth. Veena grew up surrounded by a large extended family who were and continue to be very close to one another.

Veena and Nirmal met in December of 1966. They were introduced by a mutual friend at a wedding and after a courtship, Nirmal and Veena were married on December 12, 1967. They immigrated to Canada in 1969 and lived in Montreal until moving to Toronto in the fall of 1971. Veena was a loving mother to her two daughters and a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren.

Veena is predeceased by her sisters Mohini Kawatra, Sarla Coonar and brother Rajesh (Bittu) Sachdeva. Veena is survived by her husband, Nirmal Parmar , her daughters, Jyoti Parmar and Jugnu Natasha Parmar, and her sisters Ramesh Dewan, Usha Chowdhury, Sunita Bhagat and her brother Surjit Sachdev.

Veena’s demise left a big void in our lives. She was our godmother who throughout her life was our anchor who was always welcoming, full of love and was there with us through bad and good times. Left behind an unforgettable legacy.
