In memory of

Vasillios Mrakas

March 14, 1944 -  January 12, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Vasillios Mrakas. Surrounded by his loving family, Vasillios passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025.

He was the devoted husband of Afrodite (Pedias) Mrakas, sharing nearly 58 years of love and partnership.

A cherished father (Baba) to Chris (Michael), Steve (Tammy), and Tom (Alison), Vasillios was also a proud grandfather (Papou) to Konstantinos (Justine) and Afrodite-Christina (Zac), and a loving great-grandfather (Big Papou) to Xavier and Lilly.

Born on March 14, 1944, in Agios Panteleimonas, Greece, Vasillios immigrated to Toronto in 1966, where he built a beautiful life for his family. He spent 6 cherished years in his home on the Danforth, 34 years in Scarborough, and his later years in Keswick.

Vasillios was a kind and humble man, remembered for his steadfast dedication to his family and a remarkable work ethic. A skilled butcher for many years, he provided for his loved ones with care and pride. He found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—sharing coffee with his wife and friends, spending time with his family, tending his beloved garden, making others laugh with his sharp sense of humor, and creating lasting memories during family trips to Cuba.

To know Vasillios was to experience a life lived with grace, warmth, and love that touched everyone around him.

He will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts. May his memory be eternal.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Vasillios’ honor to Southlake Health in support of the Palliative Care Unit. Contributions can be made at https://southlake.ca/vasilliosmrakas.
